Recommendations and online reviews can help determine if an agent has a good reputation, but personally interviewing potential agents is the best way to ensure they will align with your needs and goals.

A seller’s agent is able to leverage their knowledge of the local real estate market to accurately price, stage, and advertise a home, as well as negotiate the best selling price for their clients. The agent will also be there to help navigate the legal requirements of selling a home and protect their client’s rights.

Real estate agents typically charge a percentage of the sale price in commission that is negotiated with the seller, often based on the typical rate for the area. The listing agent's commission is usually split between the buyer's and seller's agents, therefore the buyer is not typically responsible for paying their agent’s commission.
